I'd say get rid of SO6, race either SO4 or SO4r. Add KY2/r and AS4. Remove ky1r and we're done!

I'm really thinking about participating. Will be interesting since this will be my first Single Seater league. I've only driven GT2/GT3 now so yea... Will be a challenge!

Quote from kart-36 :Personally I aim for around 160-165kph on exit

Same for me, but I'm just giving a lil bit of advise.

I started of doing crappy in T1 aswell, but Holmes helped me allot. I must admit, it feels very unnatural to jump over the cirbs like that but it really is the fastest way. The car feels very unbalanced but it grips after the 3rd apex, you must find your way trough the bumps there. You either nail it or you get it all wrong. Try going for safety instead of speed right away, maybe slowing a bit more down but exiting faster is the trick for you. Try hitting the 2nd apex at around 160kph and hit the 3rd one with 150 and than put the pedal down. Try to get a feeling for the car and how it handles the bumps.

But yea, one aims for the fastest speed out of the chicane and the other one aims for not crashing. After 200 laps or so I finally got it right, it really takes allot of practice.

Btw Seb doesn't feel the bumps because he is Jabba.

Quote from Swiss-Spirit :Do you take the poles with you every lap? Because I seem to stay too far from them

I personally don't, specially not in the race because you'll wreck your suspension eventually. I stay clear of them, I think in the race there will be sanctions maybe for when you hit a pole 3 laps in a row or something because it's just clear cutting imo.

Low 41 is easilly possible without going for the poles and you can exit very well without hitting them or getting even close to them. I try to stay as much with 2 wheels on the tarmac as possible there. Try to aim around 155kph at the exit.

Made my own lil edit with the changes I named earlier. Check it out and see if you guys like this better !

Basically what I've done is moved the whole lot about 1 meter closer to the apex, IMO the flow is better trough it and it still does it's job!

Lol, am I the only one who likes it? I'd say thumbs up for this one. My laptimes rose by 1.5 to 2 seconds but I kinda like it. You need to adjust the break bias live to not produce any flatspots on the front tires so it's another challenge, and if you don't change it back you'll have hell in the rest of the track so that's nice.

Most of all this prevents the more experienced drivers to gain an easy advantage trough T1. Just because you aren't used to it doesn't mean it isn't a good change. I like it and it will make for fun racing. The exit isn't bad at all.

Eventho I like it the way it is now I'd say to move the tires about 1m to the inside of the old apex of t2 just to make it a better flow. Otherwise keep this adjustment!

I listen to music while training for an event & just for fun online racing. At an event? No, I'd like to stay focused as much as I possibly can. Team feedback trough ts + engine noises are the way for me to stay focused specially when Matty gives me a peptalk every 2 to 5 laps with the gabs and when I overtook someone.

Otherwise I mostly listen to uppace music like rock/soft metal or some nice dance tunes alltho I always seem to drive my pb's when a soft whiney song comes up... lol!

Quote from Bokujishin :In case some people still doubt the wheel is rotating clockwise, here's a proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ug6w4ZjwVo
Take a look at 0:47, in this case the wheel rotates CCW and the thicker part of the tyre is on the left, so in the other picture, thicker part on the right -> wheel rotating CW

Thanks for the proof

The frictional force is working on the contact point of the wheel to the road, just like the propelling force is which "pushing" the car is you will. Both are working in the opposite direction of eachother while the propelling force wants the car to be moved and the frictional force doesn't want the car to be moved. Normally speaking while looking at the car as a whole, at a constant speed the resistance works against the movement of the car (in a straight line).

At acceleration on tire level however the tire needs to "grip" the surface of the road and effectively the friction produced by the tire moves the car in the direction it needs to go (either forwards or backwards). Looking at the picture you will see that the left side of the tire is thinner compared to the right side. The rim is pulling the tire if you will, and the contactpoints of the tire will stick where they were on the very first few miliseconds of acceleration, there is a delay to when the inner part of the tire moves and the outer part where it hits the track moves. Looking at the post amenyu made it confirms that.

The tire is pushing to the left on the track, on the picture. The frictional force works to the right and thats the direction the car is accelerating in. The tire is therefor spinning clockwise.

I think you were thinking about a car which is moving at a constant speed, but this is not the case here

Quote from pajkul :I'd say the wheel rotates counter clockwise. The tyre surface on the left is substantially thinner than on the right side, and considering the fact there's also fictitious force involved caused by the accelerating movement of the wheel that makes the tyre thicker on the right side, the answer is B.
When wheel accelerates, every point of the wheel wants to stay where it was before acceleration, that's why there's more rubber on the right.

You just perfectly explained why the wheel rotates clockwise... Well done! The only thing that is wrong are your conclusions.

I'd like to meet the whine babies after the new patch gets released and they're blown away because there's nothing as realistic on the Simracing market on that date.

Thanks for being focused on perfection Scawen! I like LFS for what it is, the sound doesn't bother me at all, the physics are great already and what you guys are doing is improving on it! And that's a hell of a job, you guys should be able to realize that! And most of all, LFS makes me able to do something that I utterly love and thats racing.

I may not have the funds to race for real, but I do have the funds for a Logitech G25, a pc that runs LFS with ease and thus the ability to drive one of the best sims out there and get as close to reallife racing as possible.

I really couldn't care less for real tracks or real cars, in my eyes that isn't the main goal for a racing game. A fictional track gives the driver just as much of a challenge, and just like the cars they make LFS unique compared to other sims. Enjoy the game for what it is and not for what you want it to be. If you do, I think is about time you left!

Keep up the hard work Scawen, Victor and Eric and don't bother to set a deadline. I'll be online still racing everyday, if I can, untill it arrives and I'll be amongst the first to buy S3!

Thanks also for the great report on tyre physics, it was a very interesting read and gave me a great insight about how though it actually is to make (only) a tire to behave like the real world.

The finished product will be something the sim racing world has never seen or experienced before, I have full confidence in that! Goodluck with all the work you guys have to do and we'll hear from you in the next report (don't feel pushed by everyone out here and just go with your own flow, a perfect job can't be rushed) !

Well as Genuine Racing we probably had the jinx in Fern Bay and hopefully won't have it again. We were all very positive even after the crash, we learned allot strategy wise and I think we made some good calls during the race.

We all were watching the last 3 hours unfold and we were so glad that we weren't in the mess, it would've been hell. And big respect to all the drivers who drove clean and I think they're to count on 1, maybe 2 hands.

Better luck next race in Aston guys!

Ok thanks for clearing up some things!

I'm studying the rules very well right now, just so nothing will be done wrong on my & my team's part.

Lets hope this race will turn out better as we expect before it and with hopefully not too many problems!

Lol! Hope everyone is training well for this one, quite tricky when you don't know what you're doing this one...

Anyways, I'd better get started right away!

Hoping on not too much SC's or even a red flag, that would be pure horror... Will only make the crashing worse after it IMO.

We'll see how the race develops and I think it will be quite obvious from the start who trained allot and who didn't.
